Fun in the Flatlands / 4-H Achievement Day – September 7-9, 2017    Join the Fun in Ada, MN!

Thursday, September 7th
4-6 p.m. – Happy Hour at Pub 21
5-7 p.m. – Extended Happy Hour at Ada Liquor Store. Meet Raffle 6-7 pm, Wheel of Fortune at 6:30 pm
6 p.m. – Wine and Beer Sampling at Ada Liquor Store

Friday, September 8 - Sidewalk Sale Days, Farmers Market, Bingo.
 ALL DAY - Sidewalk and In-Store Sale Days.
8:30 am-1:30 pm – Farmers Market at Laughing Earth
9:00 am – 12:00 noon – Silent Auction at Norman County Courthouse in the Social Service Parking Lot. Final bids collected at 12:00 noon. Pick-up awarded items by 1:30 pm.  
11 am – 1 pm – Customer Appreciation at American Federal Bank with grilled burgers
4-6 pm – Happy Hour at Pub 21
5-7 p.m. – Extended Happy Hour at Ada Liquor Store. Wheel of Fortune at 6:30 pm. 
7 pm – Bingo Ada Liquor Store

Saturday, September 9
Take a stroll back in time by attending a fun filled day at Prairie Village and the Norman County Fairgrounds. Parade, Fun Old Time Demonstrations, Rib Fest, Craft Show, Dekko Center Pool Fun, Street Dance, Great Food and More! 
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. – Craft and Produce Market in 4-H Building and on the grounds at the Norman County Fairgrounds. To reserve a space call Angie Nelson at 784-3809. 
9:00 am – 3:00 pm – Prairie Village open with checker games in the mercantile building. Check out the Log Museum, Print Shop, Churches, Schoolhouse, Country Store, Barber & Beauty Shop, Log House, Doll House, Syre Depot & the Machinery Building. Lean about each site from members of the Norman County Historical Society! 
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Annelee Woodstrom selling and signing her new book, “And So It Was – Reflections on my Life” at Craft Show
9:00 am - Registration and cooking begins the rib competition for the 2nd Annual Kelly Thronson Memorial Backyard BBQ Ribfest Competition. Cooks meeting at 9:30 am. Grand prize: $500; 2nd place: $250; 3rd place: $100. Registration fee $50 for contest and given 2 racks of ribs for preparation. Can purchase additional racks for $10 each. Competitor turn in at 5 pm with surrounding Mayors as judges. (between Pub 21 and the Post Office) Information on Facebook account named 2nd annual kelly thronson memorial backyard bbq)
11 a.m. – Fun in the Flatlands/4-H Achievement Day Parade (Just show up! Line up by Frandsen Bank & Trust ½ hour prior to parade. Parade starts at Frandsen Bank & Trust, travels to West Main St, then south down W. Main St. to 2nd St, travels west on 2nd St. and ends at the Ada-Borup School.) Free US Flags courtesy of the Ada VFW Auxiliary.
11 a.m. – 3 pm - FUN ACTIVITIES AT THE FAIRGROUNDS!!! TASTE OLD TIME FOOD, MUSIC, CRAFT SHOW, OLD TIME DEMONSTRATIONS, KIDS, GAMES AND ACTIVITIES, CHECKER GAMES, FOOD STANDS, AND SO MUCH MORE! 
 *Demonstrations and displays including spinning, rug braiding, knitting, embroidery, hardenger, art gallery, $5 sale table, and more in the Coliseum by the Historical Society.
*History Hunt at Prairie Village for ages 6-18 with the prizes of $25 movie passes. (Sponsored Historical Society)
*Pioneer Food Court. Food from the “Good Old Days” & Demonstrations in the Coliseum including Potato Dumplings, Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup, Romagrout, Bread Pudding, Sweet Soup, Flat Bread, Lefsa, strawberry-rhubarb jam, and krum kaka! Demonstrations of old time crafting throughout day. (Fundraiser sponsored by the Norman County Historical Society.)
*Corn Sand Box in front of the Coliseum sponsored by the Corn Growers Association
*Soybean Sand Box in front of Coliseum sponsored by the Soybean Growers Association.
11:00 am. – 2:30 pm. – Bouncy Games for the Kids at Fairgrounds. Sponsored by Arvig, Ada Borup Community Club and Ada Chamber
11:15 am – until gone. Free Ice Cream Dixie Cups outside the Coliseum courtesy of Frandsen Bank &Trust)
11:30 am -1; 30 pm – Kid Train Rides around the fairgrounds (Meet by Coliseum. Sponsored by Curt and Lynn Bitker)
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Skipper the Clown & Balloon Art outside Coliseum sponsored by Ag Country Farm Credit Services
11:30 am – 1:30 pm – Old Time Music by the Bervig’s in the Coliseum sponsored by the Ada Chamber of Commerce
12:00 – 4:00 pm –at Dekko Center, Fun Afternoon with Pool Inflatable’s for only $2 a person.
12:30 – 2:40 pm - Fun In the Flatlands Old Time Games - Games & Excitement for all ages by the Area Outback Dancers! Children, Youth & Seniors Welcome! (Sponsored by the City of Ada.) By 4-H Building and Coliseum.
12:30 – 2:00 p.m. – “Get Green Fun Craft Activities” Sponsored by 4-H. Outside Coliseum. 
All Afternoon-Horseshoes Available to play games in the West Side Park
2:00 pm – Bean Bag Tournament deadline to sign up at Pub 21 for the. Starts shortly after.
3 pm- 5:30 pm: Kids Games in West Side Park in conjunction with the Kelly Thronson Memorial Backyard Ribfest Party sponsored by Arvig and the Borup Community Club
4:00 – 6:00 pm – Happy Hour at Pub 21
5:00 pm – Rib contest competitors submit ribs for judging. Winner announced at 5:30 pm. 
5:30 pm until gone– The ribs are ready!!!! (Free-will donation) Ribs, corn dogs, fresh cut fries & potato salad served until gone in street in front of Pub 21.
5-7 p.m. – Extended Happy Hour with Wheel of Fortune at 6:30 pm the Ada Liquor Store.
9:00 – 12:00 – Street Dance by West Side Park & Ada Post Office with Midnight Highway Band

Sunday, September 10 – 72nd Annual 4-H Achievement Day
Sponsored by the Norman County 4-H Federation in cooperation with the Ada Future Leaders, Ada Chamber of Commerce, Lions Clubs throughout Norman County and the Minnesota Extension Service
10:00 am – Horse Show starts at horse arena at the Norman County Fairgrounds sponsored by Red River Valley Saddle Club
1:00 p.m. - Weigh Beef, Sheep, Rabbits, Goats & Swine
 2:00 p.m. - Enter non-livestock exhibits at the Livestock Pavilion
 2:30 p.m. - Judging of Market Steer, Lambs, Goats & Barrows for Livestock show
 2:30 p.m. - Judging of fall produce exhibits
 3:00 p.m. - Judging of rabbits & poultry
 6:00 p.m. – Achievement Day/Buyer’s Supper at 4-H Building
 7:15 p.m. - Awards Program, Don Kroshus Livestock Pavilion
 7:30 p.m. – Auction Sale for premium only of rabbits, sheep, poultry, vegetables, swine, beef, goats, potatoes, flowers, grain and canning - Livestock Pavilion
